A Backwards Kingdom

The Kingdom of God is a real kingdom which means it has language and culture, norms, values, and identity.  As followers of Christ (the King of the Kingdom) it is our joy to learn of Him, live in His Kingdom, and speak

this new language.

What does this mean?

How does this overlay with our current cultural setting?

The answers are peppered throughout the Bible and concentrated in the New Testament; particularly in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. Read through and keep in mind the differences you notice between God's Kingdom and the worlds kingdoms' in the time that Jesus was speaking. How does this apply to our current culture?

A quick visual example...

The British drive on the opposite side of the road from us, the left side. When a Brit comes here, he or she must fit to our culture/norms/laws of driving on the right side of the road otherwise there will be lots of frantic people and most likely a very serious accident.

Take this to a spiritual level.

It is kind of the same with God's Kingdom.  We may be used to living according to the ways of our world, but God has another culture.  It is often backwards from ours, backwards from our standpoint but correct from Truths standpoint.

So where do we clash?

Where do we drive on the wrong side of the road in God's Country?

Which laws do we break?

Where do we go from here?
